If your child is travelling alone to International Stanborough School we recommend that you check if your preferred airline offers an “unaccompanied minor service”. It is important that you do so before booking your flight because some airlines (particularly budget airlines) may not allow minor children to travel on their own. If your airline offers this service, we suggest you book it. They will usually ask you the name/s and contact details of the person/s collecting your child at the airport (which we’ll provide you with).

Alternatively, some airlines may request that you write an authorization letter for your child to travel unaccompanied (please see template below). Usually, these letters must be signed by a Notary Public.

It is a good idea to give your child 1 or 2 copies of the letter, should the original be misplaced while travelling. For similar reasons, you may want to give your child a photocopy of his/her passport/ID card (please don’t pack originals and copies together). The Boarding School has a safe where your child can keep his/her travel documents upon arrival.
